What makes you UNIQUE?

Everyone has traits, characteristics that make them different- things that make them unique. As one leader in a class full of leaders, share three traits about you that makes you unique.

  1. The traits that make me the leader I am today are my organizational skills, aspiration for inspiring others, and my determination to strive for success. It is a joke in my family that I am a “neat freak”; however I see it as being very organized and functional. There is a place for everything and a color scheme that holds a meaning. Being organized is a way for me to do my work without problems and useless searches. Another trait that makes me a unique leader is my aspiration for inspiration for inspiring others. My goal in life is to help others think outside of the box, open their imagination to an endless array of possibilities. This brings me joy knowing I can make a difference in an individual’s life. With this I choose to major in Event Management, with one day being an event planner for The American Cancer Society. I am the unique leader I am today because of my determination to strive for success. Growing up with a learning disability and knowing the feelings some have towards people with learning disabilities, I became determined not to allow them to control my success, my future. The only person who can bring me down is myself. I know my limits and my capabilities. I am always pushing myself to do better to prove not only to everyone else, but to myself that I can accomplish anything.

  3. What makes my leadership unique are the opportunities I have been given around the UCF campus. As a freshman I dove into involvement. I joined Greek life, Lead, and student government. Since then I have received leadership positions in different parts of this campus. All of this involvement gives me a good understanding of all the different kinds of students that compose this university. I am grateful for all of these opportunities and believe they have helped in my development as a leader.
Something else that makes me unique is the fact that I have lived in four different continents. All of this exposure to different cultures makes me an extremely understanding person who is accepting of all different kinds of people.
I believe that our experiences shape us as people and leaders, I know that all of mine definitely have.

  4. In a class full of leaders, my leadership characteristics reflect my desired career as a doctor. They differ from most in that I have compassion, patience, and love for all the projects I lead. I strive to help the people in our community who really need us and find ways to improve their certain conditions. Being able to listen and understand someone’s problems is imperative in order to find a way to improve or resolve them. Without patience you give an impression that you are not approachable therefore people will not be willing to ask you for guidance or aid. When I am part of a service or social change project it’s because I like the idea of what we are doing and all the things that we will get achieved. I accomplish all my tasks with love and happiness because I know it will be for the greater good and it will eventually impact someone’s life.

  5. Although we are in a class full of outstanding leaders, it is actually true that we are all different and unique in the way we lead. Characteristics such as ethnicity, religion, and culture create a melting pot within the class that lets us learn and share different aspects of life and differ from one another. I have moved around the country four times, going to eight different schools, and traveling to three different states down the east coast. From this experience in my life, it taught me to be fearless in chances that come and to jump when you reach the end of the road. Being able to take a stand for what I believe and having the courage to take a chance has made me unique in my leadership skills. Also, being realistic in all situations is another unique trait of mine. I understand that I can not lead the world or create world peace. I like to make goals realistic and achieveable yet set a high standard to achieve. Finally, because I moved a lot during my childhood and met many different types of people, I learned respect, for myself and for one another. I think this is the most valuable and important characteristic I can bring to the table as a leader. Respect breaks the boundaries between cultures and religions and races, and creates friendships and movements that can't be stopped.

  6. There are a lot of different traits people can have that define them as a leader. Although we may be a class full of "leaders" it does not mean we are all the same. Some of us may be the type of leaders who are great at public speak or some may be awesome at planning and making a schedule to follow to get things done. The traits that I posses that define my leadership are organization, determination, and strong values and beliefs. I am the type of person that needs everything in its place and I cannot stand when things are neatly done. I also am somewhat of a perfectionist so I am always extremely determined to get things done on time and exactly how they should be done. Finally, I have very strong values and I make sure to stick to them. Although with some subjects I am willing to listen to what others believe, I always remain set in my beliefs. Although our uniqueness may cause problems between leaders at time, I believe that our uniqueness is also what helps to get things done in the most efficient way. Everyone brings something different to the table and helps the overall goal get reached successfully.

  7. In a class full of leaders I think I definitely stand out by my traits and characteristics such as my bubbly personality, strong work ethic, and my positive attitude.
Since I was a young girl, I was always told I was a natural born leader. Parents, teachers, family and friends have told me that people seem to naturally follow me. I personally believe that is because of my personality. I am extremely easy to get along with. I have a bubbly and friendly personality that make people want to be around me. As a leader, I use my extroverted personality to my advantage. My strong personality makes me stand out in a class full of leaders and makes me different from the rest. I also stand out because of my work ethic. I am the type of person who likes to get the job done right away. I do not procrastinate and I do not like to waste time. This also makes me stand out in a class full of leaders because it shows that I am a hard worker. Another trait that I have that makes me unique is my positive attitude. I try to make the best out of every situation. I try to make things fun and entertaining. My happy-go-lucky attitude makes me special because I want to be here and I want to learn. Having a positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and a bubbly personality make me different from other leaders.

  8. Being in a class full of leaders it is interesting to see the different types of leadership styles that people embody. Traits that I think make me unique: one is that I feel that I have local connections for partnerships, I think it is easier to have these connections when it comes to needing funding and help from other organizations to reach a greater need or bigger project. Another trait that I believe that can be seen as a negative or a positive is that I'm impatient. I like things to get done and be accomplished well in a timely manner. The faster you get something the sooner you can help others and more people. A third quality would be that I try to be a leader that leads by example and that I wouldn't ask someone to help me do something if I wouldn't do it myself.

  9. Over the last two years I have grown and strengthened many of my leadership traits, but there were three that resulted from joining the Leads Program. The first trait I believe makes myself unique is my ability to better listen to what others have to say and truly give their ideas a chance to prosper. Going to such a massive University has made me realize that there are many good and stupid ideas but leaders, none the less, give those ideas a chance. Another trait is my patience in large groups and orginizations. Sometimes I find myself wanting it done a certain way but now realize over the past few years that other's thoughts are just as important if not more so. My last trait that makes my leadership style unique is that I do not allow stress and overwhelmingniess to obscure my goals or what I have to accomplish. Eyes on the prize.

  10. All my life I have known that I posses the capabilities to lead others. However, only in the past two years have I come to refine and polish my skills to their highest potential. While doing this, my strengths and weaknesses have come into a better light. After self examination, there are three traits that lie at the heart of my leadership. My charisma, consciousness of myself and others, and my organization make me the unique leader I am today. My charisma allows me to draw followers to my cause. While my ability of knowing my own and others skills, thoughts, feelings and intentions through consciousness of self/others empowers me to lead my followers. All the while my organization and delegating skills make the process of accomplishing the goal of our group easy and smooth.

  11. Each of us possesses special traits and characteristics that make us unique. When we work together as a group, we are able to highlight our talents and strengthen our weaknesses. Three of the unique traits I believe I possess include my organizational skills, drive for success, and ability to work well with others. I strongly believe that when a project is conducted in an organized manner, the overall production runs smoother. I pride myself on my organizational skills, neatness, and strict attention to detail. In every part of my life, I strive to succeed in all things. In addition to the many things I have gained through Lead Scholars and working in groups, I have learned to cooperate and value the opinions of each group member.

  12. In this class there are many different people that come from many different backgrounds. Each person has their own story and their own personal traits that make them a leader. Three traits that I feel are unique to my leadership are my culture, my travel experiences, and my determination. As a minority in this country I have a viewpoint and a new perspective from that of many people. As a leader one should always consider ideas from another person's eyes, and coming from a different culture and background has taught me that. Also as with many people, I too want to help the world. By traveling to India I have had first hand experience on what actually is going on in the world. This experience has showed me what people actually go through on a daily basis in an extremely poor and rural area. As a leader it is important to obeserve for yourself what people are actually going through. Lastly, the most important trait to my leadership is determination. Determination is important because if one doesn't have that then the efforts that you made as a leader become fruitless.

  13. In a class full of leaders, it’s important to try and focus on the top three leadership qualities that you possess as someone else might be a better leader in your not so good leadership qualities. The first quality I possess that is unique is my ability to stay organized. I believe that organization is key to any successful project. The next quality i feel I have is being very dependable. If you tell me what you need and I agree to do it I will not disappoint. The final quality I possess is my work ethic. I try my very best to perform, when given a task at the best ability that I can put forth.

  14. Every leader has traits that make them unique, which in lies the reason for their success. My traits that help me reach this success are perseverance, confidence, and hard work ethic. Without these traits, I am not who I am today. My perseverance is present in every task that I complete. I’m bothered when I don’t complete a goal and I usually won’t stop until I reach it. I’m hard headed when it comes to completing a task because if I don’t I don’t concentrate on anything else.
Confidence plays a big role in who I am. I’m not talking about the kind of confidence as in walking down a run way but the confidence to stand by your opinions and the ability to put forth ideas, thoughts, and actions without hesitance. Of course they have to be filtered with an understanding of how they can affect others, but having the aptitude to be confident in your everyday life will help you grow as an individual.
Having a hard work ethic is very important to me. It goes very much along with perseverance and your ability to complete a task. I value the amount of work that I put into a goal or a task because the outcome is that much rewarding. I do my best to put 110% into everything I do, especially when I am passionate about something. Not to say that I am not human being; I still procrastinate and become lazy on certain things. With these three traits, I am certain that I hold some value and uniqueness in a class full of leaders.

  15. Each and every person in this world is unique, each possessing different traits and characteristics. In the same way there are leaders all around the world with unique traits and characteristics and I am one of them. Each person has specific traits that helps them become a good leaders. The top three leadership traits that I possess are that I am very dedicated, congruent and I definitely work well with others. When I have a vision in my mind I do everything to make it happen and when I say I will do something it will get done no matter what. In addition I walk the talk. I don't like it when someone says something and does something completely different so I am not going to do that. Furthermore working well with others is very important because a leader is someone who people want to follow versus a boss who people have to follow. To become a leader you have to look over all the differences, listen to other people, take everyones' views in account and make sure everyone is on the same page and gets along. Having an understanding and open mind is the key to becoming a good leader.

  16. The traits that make up each person can be similar as others, or completely different from each other. Its how we use them, and the different traits that combine to compose a single person. My traits, make me unique and make me the person I am proud of being. I am very motivated. If something gets into my line of goals I will continually attempt to succeed. This is a quality that has the ability to be positive or negative all at the same time. My motivation can also be a fault, because I do not take rejection and do not know how to stop going after what I want. I always believe there is another way to get what I want.
I also possess the trait of kindness. I always wake up each morning with a open heart, and giving hand. This helps build me up to being a good leader. In order to lead, you need to be able to help others around you. This make me unique, because I try to do everything beneficial to others before for myself. I feel that this is a quality that makes me a little different with much of the population.
I also very confident, I do not get nervous to often when it comes to something that helps me obtain my goals. I believe in myself, before what others say about me. As a leader you need to send of the message that people can trust you, and know that you have the ability to speak when others are too afraid to do so in some situations.
These are the traits and make me unique, and my own self. These three traits also make me the person I am today, which I am so proud to be.

    Thanks,

  17. Hello my Lead loves, I hope you are all having a great weekend and MLK Day! I’ve enjoyed reading all the posts so far. If we combined all of our unique strengths, we would certainly make a superhuman.

Some of my unique traits are:
    1. Straightforwardness—I’m not afraid to say it like it is. In the past, I have encountered some leaders who seem to beat around the bush or fail to instruct or correct those they are leading. Being direct doesn’t mean being rude or unpleasant; it means being honest and unafraid to teach and direct others when it is your job to do so. I can do that.

    2. Creativity—I’ve got my feet on the ground and my head in the clouds. I adore poetry and creative writing. And I like trying new things in new ways. I think if we were to hear things like this: (Click here!) on the radio or television, we might live a little differently. Give a listen to the link if you want to know what I mean.

    3. Empathy—I feel the feelings of others by putting myself in their shoes. I think I have become a more understanding and empathetic person as a result of my employment at the UCF Center for Autism and Related Disabilities. I have encountered people and situations that break my heart. I have listened to parents who are on the verge of giving up because they are desperate for help. I’ve also shared in the joy of finding solutions and support for their families. My experiences here have definitely helped shape who I am today and how I approach leadership. I know that empathy can result in the doubling of our joy and the division of our grief.

  19. I have been told that I am a very weird person and I used to take it to heart until I realized weird is sometimes good it just means that I am unique.

    1. The first thing that makes me unique is my creativity. I think of different ideas for certain things in my head and so that I remember these ideas I have to write them down. I make a lot of creative videos that have plots that might make you wonder who thought of this. I also make a lot of designs with adobe suite. These are two of my passions.

    2. I am very emotional and some may say that is not weird but I am more emotional that the average person I have been told. This is good because whenever a friend is going through something, they always feel like they can come to me and I will not judge them because I am really understanding.

    3. I am outgoing and shy at the same time. I don't just say this because I am myself in front of my friends and shy in front of people I do not know but I am saying this because I turn my outgoing and shyness on and off it depends on my mood and if I am confident. Sometimes I go talk to random people and sometimes I am even shy in front of my closest friends and even family depending on the situation.
